China Import and Export Fair, also known as Canton Fair, which started in 1957 and will come forth its 106th session in this October, has been widely seen as the mirror that reflects China's foreign trade prospects. For a long time, one-quarter to one-third of foreign trade deals were made during the fair annually. Now under the background of economic slowdown caused by global financial crisis, China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) is doing more to promote both domestic trade and foreign trade.
The 106th Canton Fair is now doing its best to help export-oriented enterprises explore domestic market in order to tackle the financial crisis. The fair will set up "Domestic Purchasing Centers" in which paid booths will be offered to domestic buyers so that they can negotiate freely with participating exporters. To a certain extent, the Canton Fair has opened a door to the domestic buyers.
During the second and the third phases of the 106th Canton Fair (October 25 to 27, November 2 to 4), the "Domestic Purchasing Center" will be located in Area A, No. 6 Hall. In the Underground Zone, with 400 standard booths, each offering three free passes to domestic purchasers, the area will be multi-functional.
