The Guangzhou-Zhuhai intercity rail line, with speeds of up to 250 kilometers per hour, was put in operation on Jan. 7, 2011. The high speed train links 13 stations and will shorten the travel time between Guangzhou and Zhuhai down to about 40 minutes.
The transport system is part of the regional integration project, which aims to limit travel time within the Pearl River Delta to one hour.
