The Kuwait Consulate General in Guangzhou is planning to send business consultants to the four consular areas of South China (Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Hainan), building co-operation between Chinese and Kuwaiti enterprises.

To make clear the years' efforts and future plans for the consulate general, Consul General Abdulwahab Alsager has invited Guangdong's governmental officials and media friends to attend the press conference yesterday (February 25) at its office.

The Kuwait Consulate General in Guangzhou was established in 2008. The new consular office is responsible for overall diplomatic tasks but its only specific dedicated department is its visa department . The consulate plans four short-term goals in the upcoming years: to promote bilateral trade between Zhanjiang city and Ahmadi city, as well as the construction and operation of the refining program in Zhanjiang; to establish the Sino-Kuwait enterprise union; and to promote the mutual visits of top leading government officials.

At the press conference, the Consul General revealed the achievement boosted by the consulate in the past years as well, including:

From 2011, the Kuwait University has begun to enroll Arabic lauguage students from the Guangzhou-based Sun Yat-sun University. Now three Chinese students are learning in Kuwait.

On April 25, 2012, Guangzhou and Kuwait City, capital of Kuwait, became Sister Cities.

On April 26, the new office of the consulate general opened at the Concord Center, Guangzhou's Zhujiang New Town.

On June 18 to 22, a delegation led by the news office of Guangdong Provincial Government visited Kuwait.

On October 15 to 19, Kuwaiti enterprises first attended the 112th Canton Fair which is listed as the country's most important international fair.

On November 13 to 17, the administration committee from Kuwait City visited Guangzhou to learn more about its infrastructure and city planning.
