The Guangzhou International Beauty & Cosmetic Import-Export Expo is inaugurated in 1989, and is the longest established Beauty & Cosmetic Expo. It has taken place twice a year since 1996, with the edition that took place in March 2009 being the 30th.
The Guangzhou International Beauty & Cosmetic Import-Export Expo is the most influential beauty trade event in China. With thirteen specialized exhibit zones, the expo attracts visitors from all over China, Asia, Europe, Americas and the Pacific region. The expo covers all segments of the beauty and hair industry. In addition, beauty schools, trade media, trade offices, alliances and associations also participate in the fair, making it even more diverse and professional. In recent years, each edition recorded over 200,000 entries by trade buyers and professional visitors. The Guangzhou Beauty Expo has become one of the best known beauty industry events in the world.
The show period has also been dubbed the "Guangzhou International Beauty Festival" due to the large number of industry and corporate events that are held around and about the expo. Companies organize press conferences, seminars, new products presentations and other promotional functions starting from as early as two weeks before the opening of the expo to capitalize on the buzz generated by the excitement and anticipation of the show. Over 400 such conferences and activities take place alongside each edition of the expo, making the time of the expo an important period for information exchange for China''s beauty industry.
