Guangzhou Transportation - Flight
Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, which inaugurated commercial flights on August 5th 2004, is one of the three major civilian airports in China. It is the main hub of China Southern Airlines. Today, it hosts 120 domestic flight routes and 90 international ones.
Located in the north of Guangzhou, neighboring Huadu District and Renhe Town, the airport is 28 km (17.4mi) from Haizhu Square, the geographic center of Guangzhou. Using specially constructed expressways, passengers from Guangzhou or neighboring cities can arrive at the airport conveniently.
Passengers are not allowed to check in as late as 45 minutes before the plane takes off, so please get to the airport ahead of time. During the Canton Fair, passengers are advised to get to the airport at least 1.5 hour ahead of time in case of traffic jam or crowdedness.

Guangzhou Transportation - Train
With a wide coverage, Guangzhou railway system provides passengers with abundant railway routes and efficient railway services. Guangzhou services both intercity transportation within Guangdong Province and trans-provincial routes. It connects to the Beijing-Guangzhou railway line, and also have lines running to Lhasa (Capital of Tibet) and Sanya (a tourist city in Hainan).
Guangzhou Railway Station, situated on Huanshi Xi Lu in the northwest of Guangzhou, is convenient by bus or subway. Trains from this station serve big and mid-sized cities all over China.
Guangzhou East Railway Station, located in Tianhe District, serves railway routes such as Guangzhou-Shenzhen, Guangzhou-Kowloon(HK) and Guangzhou-Shantou. In addition, the station has trains running along Beijing-Kowloon railway that crosses the eastern part of China.
It's a very budget choice by train to get to cities of Pearl River Delta like Shenzhen. Trains to Shenzhen are available every 15 to 30 minutes with different types of trains to choose from, and takes about 1-2.5 hours to Shenzhen depending on train type.
Passengers can buy tickets at the railway stations or at ticket offices throughout Guangzhou. It's also available to book tickets by phone (95105105 and 96020088).

Guangzhou Transportation - Long-haul Bus
Road transportation services in Guangzhou have been greatly improved in recent years. Through a wide-reaching network, passengers can buy tickets for any coach station in Guangzhou (including Panyu, Huadu, Conghua and Zengcheng). Many intercity expressways have been built with long-haul buses serving various destinations within and outside Guangdong Province.
There is even a special tourist route heading directly to Disneyland in Hong Kong at Aether Square (Yitai Guangchang) on Jiefang Bei Lu.
Guangzhou Transportation - Water Transport
With a perfect geographic location in the Pearl River Delta, Guangzhou has set up waterway connections with nations and regions worldwide. Ferry terminals situated in the Guangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone, Zhoutouju, Zengcheng, Panyu and Nansha operate direct passenger liner services to Hong Kong. Passenger liners at Dashatou Wharf and Xidi Wharf serve other destinations.

Guangzhou Urban Transport - Taxi
For foreign people who are strangers to Guangzhou, taking a taxi is recommended to getting around the city, especially during the Canton Fair period.
Taxi charges CNY 10.00 for the first 2.5 km (1.55 mi) and CNY 2.60 per succeeding kilometer.

Passengers are advised to ask for the receipt from the taxi driver before getting off. The receipt will offer the taxi number and customer service number to trace the taxi in case you leave something behind.
For convenience, you’d better prepare changes before taking a taxi.
Guangzhou Urban Transport - Metro
Now Guangzhou Metro has 8 lines in operation, including a Guangfo Line heading to Foshan city. For business people heading to Pazhou Complex for fairs, taking Metro Line 8 is a fast and convenient choice especially during the peak hours.
Ticket prices range from CNY2.00 to CNY 16.00 depending on the distance. Passengers can use Yangchengtong IC Card (only usable in Guangzhou) or buy ticket through TVM (Ticket Vending Machine) by using coins. There are also Service Counters at each station.
Tips:
The original Line 2 has been split into the present Line 2 and Line 8. Now Line 2 does not stop at Pazhou Complex Station. Please take Line 8 to Pazhou Complex.

Guangzhou Urban Transport - Bus
Public Bus is the main transportation tool for local residents. There are more than 7,000 buses and over 350 bus lines operating, as well as 48 night lines in Guangzhou. During the Canton Fair, temporary bus lines will be set up to meet the traffic needs.
Most air-conditioned buses will charge CNY 2.00 and non-air-conditioned ones CNY 1.00. For buses running longer distance (to Nansha, Zengcheng, etc), fees will range from CNY 3.00 to CNY 20.00.
For passengers who want to take transportation between Baiyun International Airport and Guangzhou downtown, Airport Express Coach is a comfortable and convenient choice. 11 express lines (some have branch lines) services customers, each line with different intervals ranging from 10 to 45 minutes.
Airport Express Coaches stop over major hotels, residential areas, business centers, and coach stations, where you can change other transportation vehicles to get around Guangzhou or to other cities
Guangzhou Urban Transport - Water Transportation
There are many passenger liners served by Guangzhou wharfs, including Lianhuashan Ferry Terminal, New Nansha Harbor, Fangcun Wharf, Sun Yat-sen University Wharf, Tianzi Wharf, Xidi Wharf, etc.
Ferry Buses are available also every 20 minutes from 7:00 to 18:00, covering the distance between Fangcun Wharf and Sun Yat-sen University Wharf, passing by Xidi Wharf and Tianzi Wharf. A whole trip will take about 40-50 minutes.
Standard tickets will charge CNY 2.00 per person (CNY 1.00 for a trip between two neighboring wharfs). Sightseeing tickets will charge CNY 6.00 for a single trip and 10 for a round trip. Yangchengtong IC Card or coins are valid for buying ferry bus tickets.
