There are almost 17,000 taxies served in Guangzhou now. The taxi charges CNY7.00 for the first 2.3 kilometers (1.4 miles), and CNY2.60 for succeeding kilometers. Since Nov. 2005, all taxi passengers has been required to pay a fuel surcharge of CNY1.00 yuan per ride.

During the period of Canton Fair, more than 4,000 taxies will be put into Canton Fair transfer service. It will be safe to take a taxi in Guangzhou. But it will be more smooth if you could be aware of some tips for getting around Guangzhou city.

To cope with expected visitor traffic for the Canton Fair, 3 temporary bus lines have been announced. 2 reserve services will be available in case of unexpected visitor traffic pressure. The new bus lines are direct services from origin to destination, which will pick up no passengers en route. Buses will run from 17:30-19:00 (excepting days when exhibition halls are closed), from Oct. 15 to Oct. 30, 2006.

3 temporary bus lines:

Liuhua Exhibition - Guofang Dasha(Guangzhou National Defense Building)
Pazhou Exhibition - Huanshi Zhong Rd.
Pazhou Exhibition - Dongfeng Xi Rd.

2 reserve bus lines:
Liuhua Exhibition - Haizhu Guangchang(Haizhu Plaza)
Liuhua Exhibition - Huangshi Lijiao(Huangshi intersection)
 
Guangzhou Ferry Service
 

Guangzhou Communication and Transportation Department has arranged the waterbus ferries in Guangzhou during the rush hour of Canton Fair.

Special lines of waterbus ferries

A special line of waterbus (Pazhou complex Matou (dock)-Tianzi Matou (dock)- Xiti Matou (dock) will be opened during Canton Fair. The three waterbuses are Xianghong 22, Xianghong 26 and Zhushui Mingzhu. Single ticket is CNY5.00 yuan.

Three temporary stations in Pazhou Complex are as follows:

1. South of Yuejiang Zhong Lu (near the north of the palza)
2. West of Zhanchang Zhong Lu
3. East of Zhanchang Zhong Lu
