The Beijing 2008 Olympic Games will be held between the 8th and 24th August, 2008. There will be 28 major and 302 minor competitive events in which athletes from all over the world in 37 venues will participate. Among all the venues, 31 are in Beijing and the other six are in Hong Kong, Qingdao, Qinhuangdao, Shanghai, Shenyang and Tianjin.

Hong Kong

Location: Hong Kong

Venue: Hong Kong Olympic Equestrian Venue (Shatin)

Competition: Equestrian 

There are two venues for the Equestrian events of the 2008 Olympic Games:

ⅰ. The Jumping and Dressage events will take place at the Hong Kong Olympic Equestrian Venue (location: Shatin);

ⅱ. The Cross-Country test of the Eventing competition will take place at the Hong Kong Olympic Equestrian Venue (location: Beas River).

Qingdao

Location: City of Qingdao

Venue: Qingdao International Sailing Center

Competition: Sailing

The Qingdao International Sailing Center for the Games of the 29th Olympiad is located on the old site of the Beihai shipyard by Qingdao's Fushan Bay in China's Shangdong Province. It covers a total area of 45 hectares (450,000 sq.m.), two thirds of which will be utilised for the competitions.

Tianjin

Venue: Tianjin Olympic Center Stadium

Serving as one of the Football venues, the Tianjin Olympic Center Stadium covers 78,000 square meters, with a seating capacity of 60, 000. Designed by AXS SAWTO Inc. (Japan), the project fully reflects the three Olympic concepts -- "Green Olympics," "High-tech Olympics," and "People's Olympics."

Shanghai

Shanghai has a population of over 13.5 million, ranking first in China in terms of population and population density. It is an important hub for land, marine and air transportation in China, with its ports ice-free all the year round.

Qinhuangdao

Location: Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province 

Venue: Qinhuangdao Olympic Sports Center Stadium

The Qinhuangdao Olympic Sports Center Stadium will serve as one of the Football venues during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The stadium lies inside the Qinhuangdao Olympic Sports Center on the Hebei Avenue.

The construction was started in May 2002 and completed on July 30, 2004. Covering 168,000 square meters, the Olympic-standard stadium has a seating capacity of 33,572, 0.2% of which is reserved for the disabled persons.
